Are you a DBT clinician?

You will find the DBT Therapist Directory on our DBTGA website. You are invited to submit your application for inclusion in the Directory at no cost. This list will serve as a resource for potential clients, their families and providers in the community.

We will include DBT therapists who are actively engaged in DBT Consultation or Training Teams, who have completed a DBT 10-Day Intensive Training or a 2-Day / 5-Day Training, and who are committed to providing comprehensive DBT treatment. Please see specific criteria below - this is an honor system.

Criteria to be listed in the DBTGA Individual Therapists Directory:

  • Each therapist states she or he is actively participating on a DBT Consultation Team

  • Each therapist, at a minimum, has completed a two-day training in DBT and actively pursues more training in DBT.

  • Each therapist will be using behavior analyses, diary cards, and skills training to apply the DBT change, acceptance and dialectical strategies.

Criteria to be listed in the DBTGA Standard DBT Skills Group directory:

  • At least one of the two leaders of the skills group must be a therapist listed in the DBTGA Directory (therapists in this directory are committed to providing five functions of comprehensive DBT when that is best practice treatment).

  • Each leader agrees to provide DBT in an adherent fashion, including requiring that group members have individual therapists.

  • Sessions provide information on particular coping strategies and elicit from participants the effective coping strategies they have learned.

  • The skills group meets weekly for at least 90 minutes.

  • Each session includes the following: a mindfulness exercise, a homework review, new skills teaching/practice, and a homework assignment.  Handouts and worksheets used in sessions are primarily from Marsha Linehan’s DBT manuals.

  • The leaders agree that potential skills group members who have engaged in self-harm behaviors in the last 6 months must have a DBT individual therapist, or that the individual therapist join a DBT team or arrange for DBT supervision.
